Education recruitment may be in trouble. As schools reel from the recent Coronavirus lockdown, Senior leaders are informing us that they only have capacity to do essential roles.

This is the peak time for job churn and job hunting and thousands of roles were vacant just before schools shut down.

However, those roles still need to be filled, some new staff will still retire this year or leave the profession. However, adverts, even national ones, aren’t getting anywhere near the normal response.

It’s possible that the assumption from education staff is that the whole process has stopped and no recruiting is happening so it isn’t worth applying. Or, they may have concerns about attending interviews.

What we are hearing is that schools still need applicants, NQT’s still need jobs as do other education staff who may be on supply.
